Sustainability
If curtain replacement is done on a weekly basis, approximately 6,688,708 curtains will be used yearly, equating to 6,106 tonnes of disposed curtains.
Because a KwickScreen can be cleaned easily in situ with virtually any standard sanitising agents, with 2 wipes per clean, the carbon emission is as little as 12g of CO2.
The problem with disposable curtains
Materials
Single-use curtains are largely made of polypropylene(PP) – a cheap, versatile plastic which accounts for 16% of the entire plastics industry, and generates 3.1kg of CO2 for every kilogram produced.
CO2 Impact
If the curtain is changed annually at the minimal hygienic standard (every 4 weeks), 12 curtains will be disposed of for one bay, generating 354 kg CO₂ each year – almost 10 times more than that of a KwickScreen AIR (36.45kg).

KwickScreen sustainability
Sourcing our Materials Sustainably
KwickScreen sources 70%+ of raw materials from within 150 miles, and 95%+ of them are recyclable. At KwickScreen, we’re conscious of the environmental impact of transporting heavy metal over long distances. That’s why we work solely with British suppliers who source steel locally – either from Derbyshire and Stoke-on-Trent or elsewhere in Europe.
Carbon-neutral shipping with DHL
By becoming a service partner in DHL’s GoGreen sustainable logistics, the emissions of each of our shipments with DHL are inclusively, and rigorously calculated in terms of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e). To offset these emissions, DHL purchases carbon credits which financially invest in “Gold Standard”, life-improving carbon offset projects around the world.
